Switch from Tally, QuickBooks or Zoho to an ERP in the UAE: a guided migration with a test run, cut-over checks and full undo

Most UAE businesses start on Tally, QuickBooks or Zoho Books and outgrow them when stock, dealers, payroll, e-invoicing or a second company arrive. What keeps them there is the fear of migration: lost history, a broken VAT trail and weeks of parallel entry. Next Orbit implements and supports e-tijariX, whose Migration Centre was built so that a business can test the move completely before committing, check it against the old system and undo it if needed.

  • Ready mappings for 13 sources
  • Test run that writes nothing
  • Cut-over checks and full undo
  • Compliant archive of past invoices
  • Ready mappings and auto-detection
  • Validation in plain language
  • Test run that writes nothing
  • Every module, not just the ledger

Quick answer

What is ERP migration and who is it for?

Switching from Tally, QuickBooks or Zoho to an ERP in the UAE means moving the chart of accounts, opening balances, open invoices and bills, post-dated cheques, the VAT position, fixed assets, products and stock with cost, customers, suppliers and, where relevant, CRM, marketing consent and HR history, without breaking the audit trail. e-tijariX, which Next Orbit implements and supports, runs the move as a guided seven-step project: plan, upload, map with AI suggestions, validate with plain-language errors, test run, commit and reconcile. An automatic backup precedes every import, re-runs update instead of duplicating, undo is available until sign-off, and cut-over checks confirm that the trial balance, receivables, payables, stock value, VAT, headcount and bank all match the old system.

  • Why businesses leave. No multi-warehouse stock or dealer pricing, payroll and WPS outside the books, no PINT AE e-invoicing, a second company that needs consolidation, and reports built in spreadsheets.
  • Why they hesitate. Fear of losing history, breaking VAT continuity, double-entering during a parallel run, and discovering problems only after the old system is switched off.
  • What we deliver. Migration plan and date, data extraction help, mapping and validation, a test run, reconciliation with your accountant, the compliant archive and sign-off.
  • Office. Next Orbit Technologies L.L.C, 509-23, Mai Tower, Al Nahda 1, Dubai, United Arab Emirates, serving the whole UAE, the GCC and globally.
  • Built around your operation The architecture is agreed with you before any code, so the system fits how you already work.
  • Proven before you commit A prototype built around your workflow shows it working before the main investment.
  • Ready for the UAE Arabic and English, UAE compliance such as VAT and e-invoicing where it applies, UAE hosting where your rules require it, secure by design.

What we deliver

ERP migration: what Next Orbit builds and runs for you

Pick a deliverable to see what it covers and the part of the stack behind it.

Deliverable 01

Ready mappings and auto-detection

Exports from Tally, QuickBooks, Zoho Books, Odoo, Xero, Sage, Microsoft Dynamics and Business Central, SAP Business One, Shopify, WooCommerce, Salesforce and HubSpot are recognised and mapped; any Excel or CSV can be mapped with AI column suggestions.

From the stack

  • Node.js
  • Laravel / PHP
  • .NET

Deliverable 02

Validation in plain language

TRN, emirate, phone and date formats are checked and fixed in place, with errors explained in plain English or Arabic rather than codes.

From the stack

  • Node.js
  • Laravel / PHP
  • .NET

Deliverable 03

Test run that writes nothing

A full import is simulated so the team can see every account, balance, product and customer as it would land, before a single record is written.

From the stack

  • Laravel / PHP
  • .NET
  • PostgreSQL
  • Power BI

Deliverable 04

Every module, not just the ledger

Chart of accounts, opening balances, open customer invoices and supplier bills one by one, advances, post-dated cheques, bank, VAT position, fixed assets, products and stock with cost, CRM, marketing consent, loyalty, users and HR history including joining dates, leave, gratuity, loans and payroll.

From the stack

  • PostgreSQL
  • Node.js
  • Laravel / PHP
  • .NET

Deliverable 05

Cut-over checks and undo

The trial balance matches the old system, receivables and payables equal their accounts, stock value equals inventory, VAT, headcount, gratuity and bank agree, and no document numbers clash; a backup precedes every import and undo is available until sign-off.

From the stack

  • PostgreSQL
  • Node.js
  • Laravel / PHP
  • .NET

Deliverable 06

Compliant archive

Past tax invoices and payslips kept read-only with their original PDF for the retention period, shown on statements and in the employee file, so the FTA trail is unbroken.

From the stack

  • Laravel / PHP
  • .NET
  • PostgreSQL
  • Power BI

How a typical ERP migration system fits together

Before a line of production code is written we draw the system: the people who use it, the services behind it and the systems it must talk to. This reference architecture from our ERP development practice is the starting point we adapt to your operation.

Questions, answered

ERP migration in the UAE: questions we are asked

01 Can we keep our transaction history from Tally or QuickBooks?

Open items, balances and the VAT position are migrated as live data; past tax invoices and payslips are kept in a read-only compliant archive with their original PDFs for the retention period, so nothing the FTA may ask for is lost.

02 How long does a migration take?

It depends on the number of companies, modules and the quality of the exports; the test run shows exactly where the data stands before any commitment. We agree the plan and cut-over date with you after reviewing the exports.

03 What if something is wrong after the import?

Every import is preceded by an automatic backup, re-runs update rather than duplicate, and the whole migration can be undone until the accountant signs off.

04 Will our VAT continuity be preserved?

Yes. The VAT position at cut-over is migrated and checked, periods already filed stay locked in the archive, and the first return on e-tijariX is run in parallel with your tax agent.

05 Can we migrate HR and payroll history too?

Yes. Joining dates, contracts, leave balances, gratuity accruals, loans and payroll history are imported, with cut-over checks on headcount and gratuity.

06 Do we have to stop trading during the move?

No. The test run and mapping happen while you keep working in the old system; the commit is scheduled for a quiet point, usually a period end, and the archive carries the old records.
