VR training simulator UAE: practise dangerous procedures safely, score every attempt and record it in your LMS

A VR training simulator UAE operators can rely on lets trainees inspect equipment, use virtual tools, find randomised faults and follow a procedure before they ever touch the real plant. Next Orbit builds simulators on Unity and Unreal with OpenXR, so one build runs on Meta Quest and other headsets. Every module has guided, assessment and open practice modes, an instructor console that assigns scenarios and injects faults live, and scoring that records time to fault, procedural errors and safety breaches.

Quick answer

What is VR training and who is it for?

A VR training simulator UAE organisations use for high-risk work recreates a plant, vehicle, site or procedure in a headset so people can practise safely, repeatably and without taking equipment out of service. Next Orbit, a Dubai company, builds these simulators on Unity or Unreal with OpenXR support, with scenario management, fault injection, guided and assessment modes, an instructor console and scoring per attempt. Results are pushed through SCORM or xAPI into e-trainia, which Next Orbit owns, or into your existing LMS, so VR sessions sit next to classroom and eLearning records. Typical modules cover permit-to-work, confined-space entry, emergency response, isolation and lockout, equipment inspection and safety inductions for oil and gas, utilities, construction and manufacturing teams across the UAE and the GCC.

  • What a simulator needs. An accurate 3D model of the equipment or site, scenarios with randomised faults, clear procedures to follow, scoring rules agreed with your HSE team and a console the instructor can run without a developer.
  • What we build. Headset applications on Unity or Unreal with OpenXR, a scenario and content manager, an instructor console, an analytics dashboard and SCORM or xAPI connectors to your learning platform.
  • What you get. A first module scoped with your HSE and training leads, built and tested with real trainees, deployed to managed headsets and linked to the LMS where completions and scores are kept.
  • Office. Next Orbit Technologies L.L.C, 509-23, Mai Tower, Al Nahda 1, Dubai, United Arab Emirates, serving the whole UAE, the GCC and globally.
  • Built around your operation The architecture is agreed with you before any code, so the system fits how you already work.
  • Proven before you commit A prototype built around your workflow shows it working before the main investment.
  • Ready for the UAE Arabic and English, UAE compliance such as VAT and e-invoicing where it applies, UAE hosting where your rules require it, secure by design.

What we deliver

VR training: what Next Orbit builds and runs for you

Pick a deliverable to see what it covers and the part of the stack behind it.

Deliverable 01

Scenario design with your HSE team

We start from your procedures, incident history and competency matrix, and turn them into scenarios with a clear goal, a sequence of steps, randomised faults and the errors that must be caught. Each scenario is signed off by your HSE and training leads before modelling begins, so the simulator teaches the approved method.

From the stack

  • Unity
  • Unreal Engine
  • OpenXR
  • Meta Quest

Deliverable 02

VR training for oil and gas

Permit-to-work, confined-space entry, gas testing, emergency response, isolation and lockout, and pre-start inspections of pumps, compressors and valves, practised in a virtual plant built from your drawings, photos or laser scans. Trainees handle virtual tools and instruments while the console records every step and every breach.

From the stack

  • Unity
  • visionOS / Unity PolySpatial
  • Unreal Engine
  • OpenXR

Deliverable 03

Instructor console and fault injection

A tablet or desktop console lets the instructor assign scenarios, watch the trainee view, inject faults live, pause for a coaching moment and replay an attempt. Assessment mode locks the hints, and open practice mode lets trainees repeat a task until they are confident with it.

From the stack

  • Blender / 3D pipeline
  • Microsoft Azure
  • Unity

Deliverable 04

Scoring, analytics and LMS links

Time to find each fault, procedural errors, safety breaches and pass or fail results are stored per attempt and pushed through SCORM or xAPI into e-trainia or your existing LMS, so VR records sit beside classroom and eLearning completions in one training file for each person.

From the stack

  • Unity
  • Unreal Engine
  • OpenXR
  • Meta Quest

Deliverable 05

Headsets, deployment and device management

We build for Meta Quest and other OpenXR headsets, configure kiosk mode so trainees see only the simulator, and set up device management for updates, content distribution and hygiene rotation across training rooms, sites and mobile training units, with a desktop mode for classroom demonstrations.

From the stack

  • Unity
  • Unreal Engine
  • OpenXR
  • Meta Quest

Deliverable 06

Arabic and English content

Voice-over, on-screen instructions, labels and reports are produced in Arabic and English and switched per trainee at login, so the same module serves a mixed workforce and reports stay readable for supervisors in either language. Further languages are added as content rather than code.

Questions, answered

VR training in the UAE: questions we are asked

01 Which headsets does a VR training simulator in the UAE support?

We build on OpenXR, so one application runs on Meta Quest headsets and other OpenXR-compatible devices, and a desktop mode can be added for classroom demonstrations. Headsets are set to kiosk mode so trainees see only the simulator, and device management handles updates and content distribution across sites.

02 Do you supply AR VR training simulators in the UAE outside Dubai?

Yes. AR and VR training simulators are built in our Dubai office and deployed to clients in Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Al Ain, Ras Al Khaimah, Fujairah and across the GCC. Discovery workshops, trainee testing and go-live sessions take place at your training centre or site, and remote support covers the headsets and content afterwards.

03 Can you deliver VR safety training in Dubai for a mixed workforce?

Yes. VR safety training in Dubai is one of the most common requests we receive, from site inductions to working at height and fire response. Every module is produced in Arabic and English with voice-over and on-screen text switched per trainee, and additional languages can be added where the workforce needs them.

04 How do VR results reach our LMS?

Each attempt produces a record with time to fault, errors, safety breaches and the result. The simulator sends it through SCORM or xAPI to e-trainia, which Next Orbit owns, or to any LMS that supports those standards, so VR appears in the same training file as classroom and eLearning courses and in competency reports.

05 Do we need a developer to add new scenarios?

No. The scenario manager lets your training team change the sequence of steps, the faults in play, hint levels and pass marks without touching code. New equipment, sites or languages are developer work, which we scope as a follow-on module and deliver under the support agreement.

06 Can the simulator run on a dedicated deployment?

Yes. Content and results can be kept on a dedicated deployment where your compliance rules require it, with the headsets managed from your own device management console. For other clients we use a managed cloud service with the LMS connection secured by API keys and role-based access.

07 Why is VR training for oil and gas worth the investment?

Because the real tasks are dangerous, expensive or rare. Confined-space entry, gas testing and emergency response can be practised repeatedly without taking a unit out of service or exposing a new joiner to risk. Supervisors see the same scoring for every trainee, and refresher training can be scheduled through the LMS.
